Located in the APY lands, 40 kilometres south of the Northern Territory/South Australian border, the farm trucks the apricots to the town and then sells them from a volunteer’s house.

Carmel Vandermolen from local food distribution network, Food for Alice, says they have been selling the apricots by the bucketload.

“On average we receive 100 buckets from each delivery,” she said.

“We have amazing volunteers who sort through them and put them in buckets.

“Then off they go to very happy customers,” she said.

Ms Vandermolan says only apricots are for sale, but there were peaches.

“The peaches have all gone but they were gorgeous.

“They were so juicy.”

The cost of a bucket of apricots is quite modest suggests Ms Vandermolen.

“We normally sell them for about $20 a bucket,” she said.

“It’s first in, best dressed.”
