The Australian Parliament’s Northern Australia Committee will complete its inter-state/territory public hearing and inspection program with public hearings in Darwin on 18 and 19 August.

Committee Chair, the Hon. Warren Entsch MP stated: “The Committee will again be taking evidence from a wide range of individuals and organisations with an interest in developing Northern Australia. This includes: local government; businesses; primary producers and resource companies; and representatives from the education, recreation, and tourism sectors.”

Following the hearing the Committee will finalise its report with a view to presenting its final report to the Parliament in the first week of September.

“The Committee is coming to the end of a herculean task—it has received over 310 submissions and held hearings across the breadth of Northern Australia. There is clearly a great level of enthusiasm across the region, encapsulating the many opportunities that are evident in Northern Australia.” Mr Entsch said.

The public hearing will be held in Community/Council Room, 12.1.03/.04, Orange 12, Level 1, Chancellery Building, Charles Darwin University, Ellengowan Drive, Darwin.

Proceedings will be audio-streamed at: http://www.aph.gov.au/News_and_Events/Watch_Parliament
