A beer-swilling pig, whose antics made headlines across the world, has reportedly died after being hit by a car.

The Pilbara pig, who was given the nickname “Swino”, was recently hit by a car according to the ABC.

Last month, campers at the De Grey River rest area on the Great Northern Highway were warned about the swine after reports of it went on benders, stealing and drinking up to 18 beers in one go.

The pig did not stop there, going on to rummage through bin bags in search of late night snacks.

Fionna Findley from Main Roads told ABC North West that the pig was recently hit by a vehicle about a kilometre north of the rest area.

She said the animal was identified as Swino by distinct markings on his ears.

Travellers making use of camp sites and rest stops along West Australian roads are asked to securely store any leftover food and drink.
